For
over 25 years, the Stonewall Jackson Heritage Arts and
Crafts Jubilee has been celebrating our rich Appalachian
heritage. The Labor Day Weekend event is held at
beautiful West Virginia University Jackson's Mill, site
of General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson's
boyhood home. Central to Jubilee is the Craft Show
with over 200 crafters demonstrating and showing
their heritage wares, and the Heritage Music concerts,
with 200 hundred |

musicians playing throughout the
weekend. Contemporary arts are celebrated with the
Fine Arts, Photo, Quilt, and Needle arts Shows.
Our Appalachian history is visited with tours of the
Mill's Historic area where
the Appalachian Rangers re-enactors set up their
encampments. They represent pre-1820
pioneers. A short walk will bring visitors |
|
to the
Civil War camp. From there the soldiers from the
North and South will battle in skirmishes for Jubilee
visitors. The antique engine show and wood chopping,
turkey calling, and glass blowing
demonstrations will put you in touch with how things
were done by West Virginia's first settlers. And, of course,
the food
can't
be beat. Pork barbeque sandwiches, catfish
platters, cobblers, cornbread and beans, pancakes,
sausage, barbecued chicken -- doesn't it just make your
mouth water. It's all at the Jubilee over Labor
Day Weekend at Jackson's Mill. Visit the |
